Fifth Annual Children’s Festival and Lovefeast
Sunday, August 19, 2018 | 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. | Hope Moravian Church
This year’s festival will include an introduction to the full Moravian Ministry Voyage, a unique event celebrating the Moravian church’s history of mission. All families are invited to the Children’s Festival, where they can go at their own pace and learn Moravian history. In addition to general Moravian history, participants will learn about the founding of Hope Moravian Church and its role in the Southern Province.
Not only will the festival feature the introduction of the Moravian Ministry Voyage, it will include a sneak peak of the Moravian musical Irene: the Adventure Begins! The musical will be a part of the Voyage info fair in September.
We are returning to the original format for the event where families and groups gather at 2:00 p.m. and visit various areas or stations at their leisure to learn about Moravian history interactively.
The stations for this year will include:
- Moravian ships and boatmaking with raingutter regatta races included
- Creating personal frakturs
- A commemorative painting of Southern Province congregations
- The bishops corner talking about the surplice, the significance of it and Hope’s involvement in providing
- A horse and buggy ride around the grounds of Hope Moravian
- A station learning Bible verses in English and German
- A photo shoot in front of a ship wheel.
These activities will begin at 2:00 p.m. and go through 3:30 p.m. At 3:45 p.m., a band will call the entire group to the fellowship hall for the lovefeast. The lovefeast will begin at 4:00. It will include a brief introduction to the musical Irene which will be performed in its entirety at Advent Moravian on September 15.
The lovefeast music will be provided by the Rev. Adam Goodrich (Friedland Moravian Church) playing Moravian tunes on the banjo, and camp songs led by the provincial Regional Youth Council. A mission offering will be taken up during the lovefeast and the mission receiving the
offering will be announced.
Please invite all Moravians, young and old, to come to this wonderful event.
