Healthy Congregations

The Special Synod of 2009 approved a new structure and a new focus for our Province, centering on eight interrelated characteristics of healthy congregations.

In 2010, Synod created directional statements for each characteristic, as well as some specific directives. Each year, the PEC provides suggestions and direction for congregations to ensure health. Here’s a complete list of the characteristics. You can also check out the Northern Province’s Healthy Characterics Resources. Click the sections below to learn about available resources, programs, and assistance for each of the characterics.

11/20/2017

Monday, November 20 — Psalm 129
Daniel 6:19–7:22; 3 John

You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 4:2

Jesus said to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” Luke 8:21

Lord, it is so easy to interpret your holy word with our own biases and miss the point you were trying to make. Guide our hearts and minds to understand your calling for us and to act on that calling. Amen.
