The Salisbury Road Regional Conference of Churches hosted the 2013 Moravian Latino Ministries Conference in the Charlotte area. This gathering of brothers and sisters encouraged and affirmed our mission to reach out to those of many varied cultures in love and friendship.

2013’s Latino Ministries Conference was held Friday evening, April 19, 2013 at New Beginnings Moravian and continue all day Saturday, April 20 at Peace Moravian. Our host churches were all members of the Salisbury Road RCC – New Beginnings and Peace, who are fully supported by Friedberg, Little Church on the Lane, and the Palmetto Fellowship.

Keynote speakers were Phil and Dr. Eunice Raiford, missionaries in church planting and medical missions in Oaxaca, Mexico. Additional program personnel for the conference were: Rev. Russell May, Co-Founder of Anthony’s Plot Intentional Community in Winston-Salem, NC; Joyce Brooks, Director of the Solomon House in Huntersville; and the Friedberg Youth Mission Team, who participated in a BWM outreach to Peru during the summer of 2012. latino-conf

The work of the Latino Ministries Committee occurs under the auspices of the Advocacy & Missions Ministry Team of the Board of Cooperative Ministries. Its current focus is document translation, which is coordinated by the Document Translation Taskforce. It seeks to make important documents (worship, Christian Education, discipleship, doctrinal) available across language barriers (specifically Spanish to English and English to Spanish). As well as informing Moravians more completely, it is the hope of the committee to enrich congregations by translating for them materials previously unavailable. This project is being coordinated with the Board of World Mission, the IBOC and the MCNP.
