“Are You a Member of the Flock of Jesus?”
Jesus walked into the temple, and those who were there gathered around him and said, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us!” (John 10:24).
Jesus had already answered that question, but the great majority of those present in the temple that day had not accepted that claim. Though many did not accept Jesus, some did; and to those who did, to those who had become part of the flock of Jesus, Jesus promised three things:
* He promised eternal life—that whoever becomes a member of his flock receives eternal life.
* He promised a life that would know no end—those who believe will find death not as an end but as a beginning.
* He promised a life that is secure—nothing can “snatch them out of [his] hand” (John 10:28).
The sheep of his pasture know his voice, and they follow him. We are members of the flock of Jesus and have received his promise of eternal life, a life that will know no end, and a life that is secure.
