Creating God Space

Practical, Doable, and Authentic ways to Engage in Spiritual Conversations
September 12-13, 2014, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

A Conference Sponsored by the Eastern District Evangelism Commission
Hosted by Moravian Theological Seminary

Speaker- Doug Pollock, Author of “God Space”

Trying to figure out how to start spiritual conversations with your friends, co-workers, and family members without turning them off? Then maybe it’s time to learn how to create some “God Space!”

In a multi-media workshop sponsored by the Eastern District Evangelism Commission, Doug Pollock, author of the book “God Space,” will provide ways to increase the quality and quantity of your spiritual conversations. There are many who desire to talk about their faith but fear doing so might jeopardize relationships or create awkwardness. In a “fun, spirit filled” learning environment, this workshop seeks to provide authentic, doable, and practical ways for individuals of faith to truly connect with people in your Monday through Saturday world.

Doug Pollock reminds us that in order to create God Space for others, we need safe people to create safe places. We are called to see all people with compassion, the way Jesus sees them. Gentleness and respect must always be present. Within these simple conversations, invisible principles of God’s kingdom are made visible in ways people can see, touch, and feel. Meaningful spiritual conversations happen when we accept where people are in relationship to God, even if we would like them to be somewhere else. Spiritual curiosity is aroused. More than anyone, Jesus knew that great questions lead to great thoughts. “God Space questions” help to open us to the layers of the heart and engage us with God and one another.

Doug Pollock is committed to guiding God’s people into outward focused living. He is an author, a speaker, a chaplain in the YMCA, and a reflective practitioner whose focus is to help Christ followers worldwide increase the quality and the quantity of their spiritual conversations in practical, doable, and authentic ways. Since 1983, Doug’s ministry with Athletes in Action has taken him to 39 different countries, 6 of our 7 continents, and throughout most of the United States to share God’s never-changing message with an ever-changing world. His two books “Irresistible Evangelism” and “God Space” in combination with his outwardly-focused workshop have opened up doors for Doug to speak in faith communities worldwide.

He is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences across the U.S. He’s had the privilege of speaking at the Pentagon’s Prayer breakfast in Washington D. C., the national staff conferences of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as CRU) in the U.S, Canada, Moldova, and Poland, and has done two national speaking tours of New Zealand. Doug has an undergraduate degree from Kent State University, and graduate degrees from Miami of Ohio, and Columbia International University. He is married to his wife Martha, and they have 2 boys named David and Jonathan. They make their home just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. To learn more about Doug’s work and the resources he’s created to help transform inwardly focused Christians into outwardly focused Christ-followers, go to GodsGPS.com.
