The Watchword for the week:
Jesus says, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17
From the busyness of this day, we gather to hear God’s call to us.
We gather at the throne of grace to pray for ourselves, our loved ones, the Church, and the needs of a hurting world.
We gather in God’s presence to hear the truth,
So that we might speak it and live it in our daily lives.
Psalm 1
1 Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
Together, let us confess our sins:
Gracious Lord, we know your word to be true, but today, we confess that our fallible minds sometimes find truth hard to define, and our mouths find the truth hard to speak. Forgive us for following paths that take us away from your loving intent for our lives. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your name. Amen.
The Lord says: “I, even I, am the God who blots out your transgressions for my own sake and will not remember your sins. Go and sin no more.”
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, AMEN.
Take time to read today’s Daily Texts. God speaks to us through the inspiration of scripture, so approach the opportunity to read the texts as a privilege, eagerly anticipating what might be spoken to you today. How might today’s Word make a part of your life new again? If you do not have a copy of the Daily Texts, you will find today’s texts posted in the margin on your page’s right side (at the bottom of the page if you are on a mobile phone). When you have finished praying, continue as follows.
In one voice, we pray together:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
And deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
Now and forever. Amen.
Loving God, open our eyes to see your truth,
So that we might walk on the path of righteousness.
Christ, the living truth, grant us wisdom,
To choose your will for our lives.
Spirit of truth, blow through us today,
And empower us to bring good news to those who need to hear it.
To the God of lasting wisdom, to the God of relentless change, to God be glory, majesty, dominion, and power,
Now and forever. Amen.
