Shining Light on Ministry

BY REV. REBECCA CRAVER |

This blogspace has long been a spot for telling stories, sharing what we are learning, and offering observations from individual experiences for others to be encouraged by. The ministry we offer in congregational and community settings throughout North America is varied. This is a place to share how God is showing up in your lives and in the ministries that Christ is offering through your communities.

In a recent meeting with a congregation, I learned about a partnership with a local school, community practices of crisis response through community networks, and fellowship activities with capacity to become connections with new people in the community. All of these stories flowed in a conversation about what the experience of being in that congregation was like and the ways Jesus is at work in their midst. This says nothing about the other brilliant ideas that folks shared about how they might engage in more ministry! Our conversation was full of honest reflection, hopeful dreaming, and collaborative potential that is possible because people were willing to share part of their stories and to listen to each other.

I want to take this opportunity to invite you to consider what stories you have lived and learned from that you could share here. When we tell stories we can help others who are working in similar ways and we can help highlight new ideas that might be just the right things for folks who are discerning a new thing in their context. This blog puts a spotlight on the stories about all sorts of ways that the Holy Spirit is moving through our faith communities. We want to help you tell those stories and to encourage you to share what you read or see here with others to encourage and support the continued ministry of God in Moravian congregations and beyond.

We would love to hear about a new ministry you have started, about an idea that brings you energy, an idea that didn’t go quite like you planned, what you are learning, or how you hope to step out in faith in the place where God has planted you. The Spotlight Blog can be a written story or a video (check out guidelines here), imparting a story about ways you see God at work in your communities. We invite you to take this opportunity to share stories that will inspire current and future generations to recognize how God is at work. We are in this together, help us shine a light on our God sightings and help one another to eyes to see just how much Jesus is doing to bring the Kin(g)dom of God into being!
