Chief Elder Festival† — Ezekiel 34:11-16,23-24; Psalm 8
Hebrews 4:14-16; John 10:1-10

Friday, November 13 — Psalm 125
1 Kings 8:17–53; John 14:15–24

I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your offspring. Isaiah 44:3

Peter said, “The promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him.” Acts 2:39

Jesus, as our Chief Elder, you provide counsel, assurance, love, spiritual direction, and intercession with the Father for the growing Moravian Church. Keep our ears and eyes open to your voice. Amen.

† On this day in 1741, it was announced in all Moravian congregations that Jesus Christ had been chosen Chief Elder of the Moravian Church. The Moravian Church has had no single human chief executive since then, and now observes this as a festival day.
