Saturday, October 7 — Psalm 116:15–19
Ezekiel 13:1–14:11; Hebrews 12:1–13
Elijah prayed, “Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” 1 Kings 18:37 NIV
Jesus said to Peter, “I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:32
We live in a transactional society, Lord, but you call us to be relational people. Open our hearts that we might live, not in isolated self-interest, but as sisters and brothers united in discipleship, reaching out to serve others. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.
