Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost

Watchword for the Week — Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Sunday, August 23 — Isaiah 51:1-6; Psalm 138
Romans 12:1-8; Matthew 16:13-20

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8

And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14

God, in our weakness, we fail to come to you when we need you the most. When we do strike up the courage to approach you, may your inviting arms reassure us that we’re always welcome. Amen.
