Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Watchword for the Week — Jesus said, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24

Sunday, August 30 — Jeremiah 15:15-21; Psalm 26:1-8
Romans 12:9-21; Matthew 16:21-28

The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. Isaiah 32:17

The kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17

May we reflect on the day when our souls will be at rest in you, Lord. Is there solace for our current situation knowing that one day, all will be well? Lord, answer us in a comforting, yet powerful way. Amen.
