Second Sunday in Lent

Watchword for the week — The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Psalm 27:1

Sunday, March 16 — Genesis 15:1-12,17-18; Psalm 27
Philippians 3:17-4:1; Luke 13:31-35

As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” You hid your face; I was dismayed. Psalm 30:6,7

Jesus said, “You have pain now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.” John 16:22

O God of mercy, forgive our stubborn and prideful hearts. So often, when our lives are easy, we forget to thank you. Yet, when our hearts are broken and we feel lost, we remember you and seek your guidance and strength. Shepherd of our souls, increase our dependence upon you. Grant us faith to declare, “It is well with my soul.” Amen.
