Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost

Watchword for the Week — The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalm 118:22,23

Sunday, October 5 — Isaiah 5:1-7; Psalm 80:7-15
Philippians 3:4b-14; Matthew 21:33-46

Eliphaz said, “As for me, I would seek God, and to God I would commit my cause. He does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number.” Job 5:8-9

A windstorm arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but Jesus was asleep. And they went and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” Matthew 8:24-25

Wonderful Savior, open our hearts and our eyes to see the marvelous things you are doing in our churches. Make us willing participants in the work of your kingdom. Amen.
