Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David. Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, who bore Jesus, who is called the Messiah. Matthew 1:5-6,16
God, for generations you have offered us refuge in your kingdom. When we return home, we should be delighted to meet our forebears. These are not ancestors by blood, but fathers and mothers of thought. Help us to be a people that welcomes all and are united by love. Amen.
