Thursday, April 20 — Psalm 51:7–12
Job 24; 1 Corinthians 3:12–23

The Lord said, “I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake.” 2 Kings 19:34

Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32

Defend us, Lord, from the self-delusions, doubts, and despairs that defy our hope in your coming kingdom. Cast away our fears. Gather us up gently. Reign over us with mercy and justice, so that every living thing may peacefully enjoy the abundance of your creation. Amen.
