God said to Jacob, “I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid. I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again.” Genesis 46:3-4
Peter said, “Look, we have left our homes and followed you.” And Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God who will not get back very much more in this age and in the age to come eternal life.” Luke 18:28-30
God of our ancestors, do not let fear overcome us. Accompany us on our journey, as you did with Jacob, and bring us up again. As we follow you, may we be granted the promise of eternal life, as promised by your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
