The Lord has punished me severely, but he did not give me over to death. Psalm 118:18
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, so that you may also be glad and shout for joy when his glory is revealed. 1 Peter 4:12-13
Dear God, we can never really know the depth of Jesus’ suffering. We can never really know the disappointment you must feel when we fail to value the gifts you have given us. Thank you for sending your son so that no matter how far we fall, we can always find our way back to you. Amen.
