Seeds of Hope Needed to Feed Families in Nicaragua

Hurricanes Eta and Iota dumped up to 60 inches of rain within two weeks over much of Nicaragua in November of 2020.  This caused extensive flooding along the rivers and tributaries where hundreds of remote villages are located.  Many of the farms that help feed the families in these villages were destroyed and covered with mud and sand.  Emergency food is currently being purchased to meet the current needs, but there is now a concern for long term food insecurity.

Provincial Church leaders in Nicaragua are asking our assistance to help restart these farms for the coming growing season and beyond.  They have let us know that a sack of beans for planting costs about $60, resulting in enough of a crop to feed up to three families. Won’t you consider helping to feed 3, 6, or 9 families?

To do so, US residents can send donations to The Board of World Mission, 1021 Center St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Canadian residents can send gifts to The Moravian Church in Canada, 600 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary, AB T2J 0B8. Please mark your donation for “MDR” and your gift will help to fund the efforts of planting seeds and other needs as they arise in this large relief effort.
