This blog post is part of a series recounting the trips of volunteers to the clinic in Ahuas, Honduras.
I have enjoyed my visits to Ahuas Honduras. The clinic is a very important part of God’s work in Ahuas. The people have almost no other medical care in that vast area. I have been there when emergencies occurred as we know emergencies can and do occur any time day or night and they can be life or death issues and without the clinic. Lives would be lost and many people left hurting with nowhere to turn. I have been there when I got up in the morning to find that Dr. Kenneth or whomever the doctors were at that time had been up all night with an emergency, delivering a babe, or any other medical issues. When the airplanes were in operation, they also were lifesaving tools. A flight of a couple of hours could save as much as a day or two walking. I would love to see the plane back in the air.
Some of the nicest and most sincere people you will ever meet, live and work in Ahuas Honduras. One quick personal story, a friend and I on a Sunday afternoon were sitting in a small outdoor covered area next to the operating room and patient housing (we referred to as the waiting room). As some local people set around just waiting for their turn to see the doctor or a family member. One lady had a toddler just walking good we could see he was tired and sleepy a little fussy. He walked over to me and raised his arms up to me I looked at his mother, she smiled and nodded. So, I picked him up he snuggled up in my arms and went to sleep and had a good nap. Only in Ahuas could that happen so much trust in someone she did not know, this is something I will never forget. Church services on Sunday was always uplifting, you knew that you were in a truly worship service. Prayers and money are needed for all the programs to move forward to meet the medical needs and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. I hope to return to Ahuas again to see my friends there and continue to share the Love of Jesus.
Isaiah 6: 8 (NIV) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
