As this report is being prepared, reports of damage from Hurricane Ida are just beginning to come in. This was a major Category 4 Hurricane when it made landfall in Louisiana and damage assessments are expected to be high and loss of life likely. We have initiated discussions with our ecumenical partners in the Evangelical Lutheran and the Presbyterian Churches, who have extensive networks in the area. As this storm system moves from the Gulf shore up into the northeastern US, we anticipate there will be flooding issues all along its path.
At this time, we will be sending funds to help with emergency outreach and will begin to look towards long-term rebuilding efforts when we can send teams in safely.
