Moravian Disaster Response to Hurricane Helene: Rebuilding Home in Lansing, NC (VIDEO)

This home in Lansing, North Carolina, was flooded during Hurricane Helene and needs a complete rebuild. The video below features members of the Clemmons Moravian Church beginning this important service to the 74-year-old woman who has lost almost everything to this storm. Board of World Mission Moravian Disaster Response efforts are being focused on this project, with leadership from the Rev. Chris Thore and Butch Sawtelle. Laurel Ridge, the Moravian camp and conference center in North Carolina, is welcoming individual volunteers or mission teams to stay in their lodge and help with this project, as well as participate in relief efforts on their grounds. The BWM will be sponsoring volunteers’ food and lodging. We are especially in need of folks with carpentry, cabinetry, plumbing, and electrical skills.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the volunteer interest form found at MoravianMission.org/MDR/. We appreciate your patience as we work hard to match volunteers’ schedules and skills with the evolving needs on site in North Carolina. Please email [email protected] with any questions.

100% of the donations received for our MDR Fund go to providing relief for these disasters. You can assist at MoravianMission.org/Give.
