New Congregation Joins Moravian Church in Brazil

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, a congregation in Lauro de Freitas, located just outside the city of Salvador, officially joined the Moravian Church in Brazil. This marks the formation of the second Moravian congregation in the country.

The day was a meaningful celebration of new beginnings, including a baptism. On June 7th, members gathered again for a special celebration of the Lord’s Supper—an occasion marked by deep fellowship and spiritual connection.

On June 13th, members of both the Salvador and Lauro de Freitas congregations came together for an evening coffee gathering. It was a time of shared joy and encouragement, as relationships between the two communities continue to grow and deepen. Pastor Mauricio Melo shared, “We believe that our God has greater things to do in our midst.”

The Board of World Mission gives thanks for this new chapter and for the faithful leadership in Brazil. We look forward to continued partnership as the Moravian Church in Brazil grows in presence, purpose, and proclamation.

Please join us in prayer for these two congregations and the journey ahead.
