South Florida Mission Weekend

We are grateful to the South Florida Pastorate for inviting the Board of World Mission to be part of the Mission Weekend of the Prince of Peace Moravian Church in Miami! The theme for the weekend was, “SHIFT – From Serve Us to Service.”

On Saturday, October 11th, leaders from the local Moravian congregations met for a presentation on the BWM and a time of sharing about the mission and ministry happening in each congregation. Prince of Peace Moravian Church has a social action committee and a medical mission committee that support the Ahuas Clinic; Palm Beach Moravian Church serves the homeless population in their area; and Margate Moravian Church is starting a new prison ministry. The combined churches have a robust youth group that meets every Friday night. Mission is alive and well in South Florida!

On Sunday morning, a lovefeast was served by the youth, the Prince of Peace Dance Ministry performed, and Bishop Amy Gohdes-Luhman (BWM Director of Mission Engagement) shared the message. It was a lively service, and God was glorified. In the afternoon, Amy was also able to greet the King of Kings congregation!
