Provincial Elders’ Conference

The Provincial Elders’ Conference (PEC) provides the executive leadership for the Southern Province. It administers the governance of the Church under the rules and regulations adopted by the Provincial Synod. The PEC includes 7 members, including the president of the PEC, 3 clergy and 3 lay members. Members are elected by the Provincial Synod (held every four years).

The Rev. Dr. Cornelius (Neil) Routh serves as president of the Provincial Elders’ Conference of the Moravian Church, Southern Province.  He is a graduate of Mars Hill University (BA in Sociology), Moravian Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and Drew University (Doctor of Ministry).  He was ordained into the ministry of the Moravian Church in 1990.

Prior to being elected at the 2022 Synod, Neil has served eight congregations as pastor and on various boards and commissions at the denominational and interprovincial levels. He has shared his gifts particularly in the areas of visioning, ecumenical partnerships, discipleship development, ministry to the community, and racial justice.  He enjoy spending time with family, attending sporting events, golfing, and gardening.

Neil is married to Beverly Faircloth Routh.  They are the parents of three sons – Nathaniel, Zachary, and Jacob.  They reside in Winston-Salem.
