Salem Walk

“Salem Walk” is an in-person opportunity to learn about three people enslaved by Moravians in Salem between 1771 and 1860. Stories about Sambo/Abraham, Cathy, and Phoebe will be shared by walking to places where they lived, worked, and are buried. After gathering at Home Moravian Church (529 S. Church St.), participants will split into groups, each group focusing on the life of one individual. Discussion and worship will follow.  The experience will take approximately two hours. Read more about the walks here.

We are happy to schedule Salem Walks for your group or church—contact the MTR ([email protected]) or Betsy Bombick if you’re interested.

Questions? Contact Betsy Bombick at (336) 723-2281 or email [email protected].

Please note that walks include uneven pavement and are subject to weather. Participants will be notified if a session is cancelled due to weather.
