Rev. Dr. Neil Routh, Provincial President | Email: [email protected]

The Rev. Dr. Cornelius (Neil) Routh serves as president of the Provincial Elders’ Conference of the Moravian Church, Southern Province.  He is a graduate of Mars Hill University (BA in Sociology), Moravian Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and Drew University (Doctor of Ministry).  He was ordained into the ministry of the Moravian Church in 1990. Prior to being elected at the 2022 Synod, Neil has served eight congregations as pastor and on various boards and commissions at the denominational and interprovincial levels. He has shared his gifts particularly in the areas of visioning, ecumenical partnerships, discipleship development, ministry to the community, and racial justice.  He enjoys spending time with family, attending sporting events, golfing, and gardening. Neil is married to Beverly Faircloth Routh.  They are the parents of three sons – Nathaniel, Zachary, and Jacob.  They reside in Winston-Salem.

Rt. Rev. Lane A. Sapp, Director of the Commission on Ministry

The Rt. Rev. Lane Sapp serves as the Director of the Commission on Ministry of the Moravian Church, Southern Province. Lane served as founding pastor of Good Shepherd Moravian Church of Kernersville, NC and pastor of Calvary Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. He served two terms on the Provincial Elders’ Conference of the Moravian Church, Southern Province for a total of 11 years and was elected a Bishop of the Moravian Unity in 2002. Lane holds a Master of Divinity degree from Moravian Theological Seminary and is currently working toward certification as a Spiritual Director. Lane lives in Winston-Salem and is married to Lilyann Baker Sapp, a retired RN. Lane and Lilyann have twin sons, Jonathan, and Charles. An avid reader, Lane enjoys exploring topics in American history, particularly the presidency of Abraham Lincoln. Lane is a member of Calvary Moravian Church of Winston-Salem, NC. Rev. Rebecca Craver, Director of Congregational Development (she/her)

As Director of Congregational Development, Rebecca works with congregations and provincial leadership to provide resources and support their ongoing work towards greater health and vitality. She works to cultivate collaborative relationships between and among pastors, congregations, provincial and interprovincial agencies and other partners. Working with communities of faith, her passion for capacity building and innovation have shaped her 15 year career in ordained ministry. She has led communities in reimagining their structures, practices, and traditions as they embrace Jesus’ call, supporting them through organizational change, worship creation, and adult learning curriculum. Rebecca’s evenings and weekends are often spent investing in good conversation over a mocha, making new connections in the community, or delighting in the laughter of her children and spouse. Email Rebecca. Rebecca is in the Winston-Salem office Tuesday-Wednesday 8-4 and available remotely Monday, Thursday-Friday.

Christy Clore, Faith Formation Specialist (she/her)

As Faith Formation Specialist, Christy will be engaging with congregations to support and build upon current discipleship practices in local contexts. She will help strengthen the outreach and witness of congregations through education and spiritual formation for all ages. She will also serve as the denominational representative to the Association of Partners in Christian Education organization that brings together resources for discipleship and faith formation through ecumenical partnership. She will be available to help with curriculum suggestions and resource sharing with congregations. As a vital part of the Commission on Congregational Development staff she will contribute to the planning and implementation of training events and connecting us with outside courses and resources to enhance the local ministry of congregations and communities. SamLevi Sizemore, Communications Coordinator (they/them)

SamLevi manages the newsletter, social media, and other digital content from the Southern Province and CCD office. They graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Creative Non-Fiction and Studio Art. SamLevi grew up in Winston-Salem and has recently returned to town to work in this roll. Growing up, they attended church with their grandmother at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and The Summit Church’s youth programming. In their free time, they enjoy reading comics and memoirs, making spreadsheets, making their own clothes, letterpress printmaking, and practicing German. Ethan Smith, Youth Ministry Specialist (NC)

Ethan is currently a seminary student at Moravian Theological Seminary, and is living in Oak Island, North Carolina. He grew up at King Moravian and has spent time working with different youth groups and churches throughout the province. He is greatly looking forward to this opportunity to connect with churches and youth groups and offer support from the CCD whenever possible. Ethan will not work in the office often, so to schedule time with him, send him an email at [email protected].

Monique Richards, Youth Ministry Specialist (FL/GA)

Monique served as the St. Thomas/St. John District Coordinator for Career and Technical Education (CTE) with the Virgin Islands Department of Education. She presently holds an Associates Degree in Christian Education (2017), Master of Business Administration Degree (1995), Bachelor of Arts in Accounting (1991) Associates of Arts in Business Management (1991). She is also a Certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Coach and Certified in Project Management and Grief Counseling. During her time in the Eastern West Indies Province (EWIP) of the Moravian Church, Monique served on the Boards of Elders and Stewards, as a Conference Delegate, Provincial/Local Camp Counselor, Provincial Camp Music Director, Youth and Adult Choir Director, Worship & Praise Team Leader, Pianist, Speaker, Teacher. She also worked with various ministries in her local community of St. Thomas, VI, where she served as a vocal coach for worship teams, conducted music workshops as well as piano and voice instruction.
