In the heart of downtown Winston-Salem, just steps away from the historic Moravian settlement of Salem, the Twin City Quarter (Embassy Suites/Marriott Winston-Salem and Convention Center) offers excellent accommodations and meeting space for the conference.  Close to a variety of activities, including the Downtown Arts District, Fourth Street’s Restaurant Row, attractions, museums, shopping, colleges, universities, golf courses and wineries.

Lodging Example: You and three friends plan to share a double room at the Marriott Winston-Salem. Since there are four of you, you’ll split room costs four ways. For a double, divide $114 by 4 to get $28.50, the cost per person per night (plus taxes and fees). Multiply by 3 nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and each person is responsible for $85.50 in hotel costs (plus taxes and fees). For two people in a King room, the cost per person would be $128.26 (plus taxes and fees) for the three-nights lodging.

Directions to the Twin City Quarter in Winston-Salem

If you are concerned about the construction in Winston-Salem (currently parts of Business Highway 40 are closed due to road and bridge construction), know that GPS apps such as Waze and Google Maps are updated and can direct you right around the mess to the Embassy Suites. We have noticed that the web version of Google Maps is not as accurate. Here’s a snapshot of what the redirect looks like.

For Google Map directions click here.

Coming from the East:

You’ll exit to the right off of Business 40 at Exit 6C, ML King Jr. Dr/WSSU, just before you get to Highway 52. Turn right onto ML King Jr. Drive, then turn left onto East 3rd Street. After almost a half mile on 3rd, you can turn right onto N Cherry Street and you’ll see the hotel up on the left after you cross over 4th.

Coming from the West:

Take Exit 5A (NC-150 W/Peters Creek Pkwy) off of Business 40 (the highway actually ends there) and turn right at the light. Stay on Peters Creek for .8 miles then turn left onto N. Cherry Street. The Embassy Suites will be on your left in .2 miles.

Coming from the South:

From US-52 North, take Exit 108B Research Parkway and follow road to left onto Research Parkway – West. In 1.2 miles you’ll exit left from traffic circle onto E. 3rd Street, then turn right in .5 miles onto North Cherry Street. The hotel is on the left just past 4th Street.

Coming from the North:

From US-52 South, take Exit 110B for Martin Luther King Jr. Drive toward US 311 N. Continue straight onto Linden St NE/N Research Pkwy. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto E 3rd St. In .5 miles, turn right onto North Cherry Street. Hotel will be on the left once you cross over 4th Street.

Those flying in for the conference should plan their travel for the following days:

Airport Shuttle

You are responsible for your own ground transportation to and from Winston-Salem.

Airport shuttle is offered by ABC Door-To-Door at specific pick-up times for prices ranging from $50 to $150 one way from Greensboro, Charlotte, or Raleigh airports. Riders need to make reservations but can pay at the time of service. They may combine riders with similar arrival dates and times to enable multiple passengers to share costs. More information about reserving shuttle rides will be available here in January 2019.

Lyft and Uber also provide transportation from these airports, though costs will vary.

Rental cars may also be obtained at any of the airports.

Attendees staying at the Embassy Suites or Marriott hotels should present their Cherry-Marshall Parking Deck ticket to the front desk of the hotel. The hotel will then provide you with a special hotel parking pass that will enable you to exit and re-enter the deck freely. Parking charges will be added to your hotel bill.

Commuting? On-street and surface lot parking is very limited. Parking is available in several nearby parking decks. See below for rates. Note you can still access the Embassy Suites hotel from the Cherry-Marshall Street Deck without going outside via climate-controlled walkways. We don’t recommend trying to reserve parking through the private company that operates the Cherry-Marshall Deck. Average costs to park in the Cherry-Marshall deck now appear to be about $10 for a full day. The 6th/Cherry-Trade Street deck is owned by the city, more affordable (only $2/day on Saturday/Sunday!), and within two blocks of the Embassy Suites. Please visit the Winston-Salem Public Parking website for additional information: City Of W-S Off Street Parking Information.
