God Moments

When I think about what formed my faith I immediately think of the “God Moments” I’ve had in my life. One of my former pastors explained the idea of God moments to me when I told her about an experience I’d had. I was having a really rough time with school and dating and I was just at my breaking point. I was driving home one day and it all came to boil and I just angrily screamed (yes I probably looked like a nutcase if anyone was driving by me) “GOD GIVE ME DIRECTION!” No sooner did the words leave my mouth than a cop had someone pulled over along the side of the road and I had to hastily change lanes.

Woah.

That might have been a total coincidence, but, for a lot of situational reasons, I don’t think it was. God spoke to me, even though he didn’t have to use actual words there to get his message across. “You aren’t serving me where you are right now. Make a change. Now.”

This was a powerful moment for me. I made a lot of changes in my life in pretty rapid succession after that moment and my life turned around big time. Seven years later and I am happier that I have ever been, I have a great relationship with God, and I really believe I am exactly where he wants me to be in life. I won’t say I haven’t faced my fair share of challenges (that is part of being a Christian too!), but I do know that when I face those challenges I can turn to God for help. If I’m lucky, he will give me another God Moment to blow me off my feet.
