Third Sunday in Lent
Watchword for the week — For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
Sunday, March 3, 2024 — Exodus 20:1-17; Psalm 19
1 Corinthians 1:18-25; John 2:13-22
No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Proverbs 28:13
Zacchaeus said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.” Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house.” Luke 19:8-9
Loving Savior, all of our words of confession and acts of contrition would be of no effect were it not for your open and loving heart awaiting our return. Let us always understand that you never began to love us; instead, your love was awaiting us at our birth, and will embrace us through all eternity. Amen.
