Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost

Watchword for the week — For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

Sunday, October 17 — Isaiah 53:4-12; Psalm 91:9-16
Hebrews 5:1-10; Mark 10:35-45

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter. Isaiah 53:7

When Christ was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. 1 Peter 2:23

Abuse Sufferer, how did you not act in kind to inflict abuse on others? When we hesitate to entrust ourselves to you, it’s because we resist seeing how we too abuse. Amen.
