Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost

Watchword for the Week — You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. Leviticus 19:2

Sunday, October 25 — Leviticus 19:1-2,15-18; Psalm 1
1 Thessalonians 2:1-8; Matthew 22:34-46

Amos said, “I am a herdsman, and a dresser of sycamore trees, and the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’” Amos 7:14-15

As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” Mark 1:16-17

Lord, you know the work that we do. Yet, like Amos, Simon, and Andrew, you call us to go beyond our daily tasks to spread your word to the world around us. Give us the courage to do your calling. Amen.
