His greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. Micah 5:4 NIV

For in Jesus Christ the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have come to fullness in him, who is the head of every ruler and authority. Colossians 2:9-10

Jesus Christ our Chief Elder, head of the church, and head of our faith, we look to you for strength and leadership in our hearts and in your church. Help us to remember that you are head of every ruler and authority. Amen.

On this day, in 1741, it was announced in all Moravian congregations that Jesus Christ had been chosen Chief Elder of the Moravian Church. The Moravian Church has had no single human chief executive since then, and now observes this as a festival day.
