Therefore revere the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served, and serve the Lord. Joshua 24:14
Jesus said, “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also.” John 12:26
Jesus, did you just say, “must?” It’s going to take some work to give up our gods to serve you. Now that we think of it, serving in sincerity and in faithfulness is a powerful antidote to serving bigotry, wealth, hatred, opinions, and so much more. Jesus, draw us to you. Amen.
