Fifth Sunday of Easter

Watchword for the week — Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Sunday, May 7 — Acts 7:55-60; Psalm 31:1-5,15-16
1 Peter 2:2-10; John 14:1-14

If your enemies are hungry, give them bread to eat; and if they are thirsty, give them water to drink; for you will heap coals of fire on their heads, and the Lord will reward you. Proverbs 25:21-22

Love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Luke 6:35

Father, we sometimes hold a grudge and use our words to be spiteful or mean, so that others can feel the pain we are experiencing. Lord, help us let go of the pain and extend kindness and love to all, even to those who are our enemies. You alone are the one who can judge us and take away our sins. Forgive us and forgive our enemies. We thank you for your grace, through our redeemer, Jesus. Amen.
