Day of Pentecost

Watchword for the week — Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord. 1 Corinthians 12:4,5

Sunday, May 28 — Acts 2:1-21; Psalm 104:24-34,35b
1 Corinthians 12:3b-13; John 20:19-23

For I will be a wall of fire around [Jerusalem], says the Lord. Zechariah 2:5

When the day of Pentecost had come, divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:1,3-4

Thank you for protecting us and keeping us safe, Lord. Help us spread the good news of great joy like a holy fire that lights our way and keeps us warm. Help us bring hope and light to the world around us in ways that people can understand for themselves. Fill us with your Spirit and enable us to offer protection and peace to others who need it. In your name, we pray. Amen.
