In 2023, the Moravian Church in Tanzania was awarded BWM mission grant funding for a construction project at the Comenius Polytechnic Institute (CPI). CPI was established in Tabora, Tanzania in 2019 with the goal of promoting the mission of the Moravian Church through the training of Moravian ministers. Currently, the institute offers a certificate and diploma in theology. The construction project they are undertaking now is a four-room building that will house three lecture rooms and an office for theology students.
BWM mission grant funding and local contributions have enabled the Moravian Church in Tanzania to finish the erection of walls and roofing in December as planned, and they will now move forward with the finishing stage (plastering, ceiling board, electricity, floor work, and fixing windows and doors).
In mid-December they held their fourth graduation ceremony, a celebration which included a fundraising event for the construction project. Bishops Ezekiel Yona and Conrad Sikombe were at the gathering along with the Tabora regional commissioner. 18 students from the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania (a BWM global partner province) and one student from the Moravian Church in Tanzania Lake Tanganyika Province graduated this year.
