The roots of Moravian ministry in Cuba go back to the late 1990s when Rev. Robert Sawyer (then Southern Province Provincial President) received a letter from a small group of brothers and sisters in Cuba, asking if they could “be Moravians!” The Moravian Church in Cuba is now a Mission Province accompanied by the Southern Province in America and the Board of World Mission. They held a provincial synod in 2023, and consecrated their second bishop in early 2024. Current prayer requests from our siblings in Cuba are as follows:
Havana District
- Pray that we find a place where we can carry out all the activities of the congregation.
- Pray for the training of leaders.
- Pray for the sick who are without medications right now.
- Pray that the Lord pours out a spirit of prayer on his people.
- Pray that brotherly love remains in the Church and love does not cool in our hearts because of evil.
- Pray for transportation for the national Church.
- Pray for donations of food, clothing and medicine to bless the community.
- Pray for our elderly and their nutritional deficiencies.
- Pray for peace for the world.
- Pray for the opening of new self-sustaining projects.
- Pray for a resolution to the current inflation situation in our country.
- Pray for the support of our pastors.
Matanzas District
- Pray for the economic and social situation of Cuba, so that we can seek the Lord and serve our churches and our people.
- Pray for the sick who have no medicine due to the lack of doctors and medicines in hospitals.
- Pray that the Lord intercedes in the new outbreak of Covid in the world.
- Pray for the construction of churches in Cuba.
- Pray for new water filters for the Moravian Churches in Cuba.
- Pray for the chaplaincy of prisons and hospitals.
- Pray for the summer camps for children and young people (we want to give one for children).
- Pray for pastoral families
- Pray that young university students are able to finish their studies despite inflation
Villa Clara District
- Pray for new missionary fields.
- Pray that God raises up leaders with integrity and pastoral vocation.
- Pray that God opens channels for the academic preparation of pastors and leaders.
- Pray for wisdom and spiritual discernment of the Board of the Cuban Mission Province.
- Pray for the relationships that the Cuban Mission Province has with the Board of World Mission, the Southern Province of the Moravian Church in America, and the Armando Rusindo Mission Foundation.
- Pray for the bishops’ work in Cuba.
- Pray for a National Directive of Men and Youth.
- Pray for leaders with an evangelistic vocation.
- Pray for development in the work of our deacons.
- Pray for good development in our projects, both through mission grants and others.
- Pray that the Moravian Church in Cuba be self sustaining.
- Pray for work in prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.
- Pray that the children and young people in our congregations have consistent, year-round Christian education programs.
Camagüey District.
- Pray for children and young people.
- Pray for the fraternity of women and men.
- Pray for the widows.
- Pray for the farm.
- Pray for church projects.

- Pray for peace between Israel and Palestine.
Guantanamo District
- Pray for the economic situation in Cuba and for those who suffer from extreme poverty.
- Pray for the unity of all our Moravian churches in Cuba and around the world.
